Over the course of the semester, collect samples of typography. You may photograph, print sample typography from the internet, cut items from magazines, find scraps of paper on the street, or cut out bits of packaging. You may even include images of objects in nature or your environment that you see as letterform. Secure all items to your journal with spraymount. Please include notes about your chosen samples: where you found them, what about the forms attracted you, etcÖ ? Practice drawing out each of your found letterforms using a compass and ruler, first in pencil and then using your micron pen set (and black sharpie if needed) to ink in. Draw out the baseline, x-height and cap height (ascender and descender lines if needed). By the end of the semester you should have at least 14 entries.
