About Me

Ever since I was young, I have always been obsessed with video games, and someday I want to make one of my own. I like stories and art, and video games are the best of both worlds. I would call myself a Disney dork, and was fortunate enough to spend this past semester at Disney World doing the Disney College Program. It was one of the greatest experiences of my life and I would do it a hundred more times if I could. I play piano on occasion, though I’m not that great. If you need to find me, I'm likely to be playing video games or piano, and if I'm not doing either, I'm probably with my seven dogs. See you in the future!

What Digital Media Means to Me

Digital Media is not just one thing. It incorporates many elements to merge into something entirely new. It can be a movie, a video game, a phone application, or a picture made on your computer. Digital media can be all that and much, much more. It gives people a new platform of communication, and the world we live in today would not be where it is if not for digital media. Creating digital media requires a diverse set of skills, including artistic skills, technical skills, and production coordination.

Components of Digital Media

Art

the expression or application of of human creative skill.

Storytelling

the act of giving an account of imaginary or real people and events told for entertainment.

User Experience

the person's emotions and attitudes when using a product.

Interaction

mutual or reciprocal action or influence between two people or objects.

Software Development

the process involved in creating and maintaining applications and frameworks resulting in a digital product.

Project Management

the methodical approach to planning and guiding project processes from conception to completion.

Project 2: Suburban Manufacturing

In a small suburban city like McAllen, doing things on the weekend consist of going shopping or eating, or both. The Palms Crossing area is a perfect solution to that. Opening in 2007, it's become a site where people spend their day with friends or family, getting a bite then walking around the McAllen Convention Center. Now with the Performing Arts Center, it's a powerhouse. But things feel off here. Palm trees are placed deliberately by sidewalks, grass is like carpet being spread in a living room. Fish have been placed in the makeshift pond to give people something else to do. It's all so manufactured. Spending time in McAllen is truly a business.
